Join Rady Children’s Surgical Services department as Operating Room Nurse! As the only hospital in the San Diego area dedicated exclusively to pediatric healthcare and the region’s only designated level 1 pediatric trauma center, our Surgical Services department operates 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, to performmore than 20,000 surgical proceduresannually!

An operating room (OR) nurse is a very important member of the surgical services team. As a member of surgical services team, the OR nurse will work alongside the surgeon and other surgical team members to provide optimal safe patient care. An OR nurse coordinates care for the operating room, by ensuring that the necessary equipment and medications are available to the team; and monitors for quality, by enforcing that sterile procedures are followed during surgery. Also, with patient safety the highest priority, an OR nurse must be a critical thinker and possess the ability to solve problems.

JOB SUMMARY:

Functions at the Standard Level of nursing practice. Responsible for independently applying the nursing process through the assessment, planning, implementation, evaluation and documentation of pediatric patient care. Selects and administers the appropriate care taking into consideration the age and developmental level and size of the patient. Provides a caring relationship that facilitates health and healing. Should be able to identify own limitations and seek resources as needed.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Associate's Degree or Nursing Diploma

One year of experience

Current California RN license

Current BLS/CPR certification (Issued by American Heart Association)

PALS or PEARS (within 6 months of hire)

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor's Degree in Nursing

Three years of experience

Professional nursing certification

Bilingual Spanish

Pediatric nursing experience in a comparable, high-acuity department

POSITION DETAILS:

Schedule: Dayshift, 10 hour

FTE: 1.0 FTE/Full-time, benefits eligible
