Summary We are looking for a driven engineer to be a part of the Nanotechnology team within the Consumable Product Development group at Illumina. In this position, you will have an opportunity to lay the foundation for the next generation of genomic sequencing products that will enable life-changing discoveries that are transforming human health through early detection of diseases and new treatment options for patients. A candidate with experience in the areas of nanofabrication, device physics, and a variety of nanoscale characterization methods would be considered. As a successful candidate you will work in a fast paced and dynamic environment to develop consumable devices to enable next generation sequencing products. Responsibilities: Design and develop novel nanofabrication techniques. Use CAD software tools to design wafer layouts. Model nanoscale interactions to inform device design. Design and execute controlled experiments to optimize wafer processes, resolve yield and quality issues and drive implementation of solutions. Characterize parts, collect data, and analyze test results to make technical recommendations. Define wafer specifications and write engineering reports to hand off to production. Work cross functionally to develop / improve processes for new / existing products. Coordinate and maintain internal and external inventory of materials and substrates used for nanofabrication development experiments. Requirements: The ideal candidate will have a BS / MS in Science or Engineering or related disciplines with 0-2+ years of experience. Experience with nanoscale and surface characterization tools such as SEM, AFM etc. Diverse background including an understanding of biomedical devices is a plus. Experience with statistics, statistical process control and DOE techniques is a plus. Fluency in at least one programming environment is highly desirable. Strong communication skills with the ability to work with multi-disciplinary teams in a fast-paced environment are required. Self-driven team player with attention to detail and analytical problem-solving skills, that can work well in a fast-paced multi-disciplinary industrial environment.
