Summary: The Product Manager will be responsible for managing the complete product lifecycle for new and existing Access Control, Surveillance and Networking products. The Product Manager will define products from existing ideas, feedback from customers and an understanding of the market. This person will need to understand challenges in the market and develop and test potential solutions turning them into innovative products that provide value to customers and meet the company’s overall strategy and goals. In general, the Product Manager is responsible for strategic development of Nortek Security and Control product life cycle to support on-going sales and marketing.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Specify market requirements for current and future products by conducting market research supported by on-going visits to customers and potential customers and developing a thorough understanding of the market’s competitive forces
  • Collaborate with sales, engineering and customers to develop and maintain the product roadmap
  • Drive solutions across development teams through market requirements and positioning
  • Develop and implement a companywide go-to-market plan including marketing materials, training materials, and working with all departments to implement the plan
  • Analyze potential ecosystem partner relationships and licensing opportunities for products
  • Drive user-centric design across all projects and platforms
  • Work with engineering program manager to transfer product from development to manufacturing
  • Evaluate and source third-party products to meet market needs
  • Write effective user-centric use cases and effectively communicate them
  • Be a model corporate representative projecting positive aspect of our organization
  • Willing participant in team development and goals
  • Proactively identify and communicate areas of improvement within our organization
  • Required to have a strong comfort-level communicating throughout all levels of the organization
  • Other Duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 4-5 years of related experience with a Bachelor’s or 3 years with a Master’s degree or equivalent experience
  • Experience in Commercial Access Control, Intelligent Building or MDU markets is highly desired
  • Demonstrated success defining and launching technology products and services
  • Travel up to 25% of the time
  • Advanced experience using Microsoft applications (i.e., Excel, Word, PPT, etc.)

  • Ability to work within and manage multidisciplinary product development teams with a track record of on-time and on-scope delivery
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, customers, suppliers and vendors
  • Able to multi-task, set project priorities, establish task focused goals and objectives for self and staff
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures and government regulations
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, customers, suppliers and vendors
  • Strong written communication and verbal skills and ability to effectively & professionally communicate with co-workers, customers and vendors.
