The North San Diego Business Chamber has just redesigned its Operation Connect program. Free career guidance and a six-month chamber membership are offered so veterans can network with future employers in the region. This program is available to military personnel planning to transition into a civilian career within six months and those who separated from the military within the last three years.

The NSDBC is holding an Operation Connect workshop from 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday, March 6 at the chamber office, 10875 Rancho Bernardo Road, Suite 104. The application deadline is March 3. For details, visit sdbusinesschamber.com or call 858-487-1767.

Presentations by chamber members will include:

  • Real-life transition stories
  • Embracing change and transitioning from a highly-structured environment to a different workforce culture
  • How to make connections
  • How to use technology and social media to make connections
  • How to build professional relationships
  • Available career resources
  • Insights into how companies hire
  • How to translate military leadership skills and experience to civilian careers
  • Interviewing advice and how to talk about one’s military experience.

As of February 13, five openings remain. The workshop will be offered quarterly, with plans to grow it to six times a year by 2021.
