We have an exciting opportunity for a Staff Lead Systems Engineer supporting the future of our aircraft within the Open Architecture group at GA-ASI. In the role, you will be responsible interfacing multiple air and ground systems utilizing Open Architecture (OA) and Open Mission Systems (OMS) across a varying portfolio of programs. This position internally collaborates with Engineers of all disciplines to solve creative solutions for new payloads, autonomy engines, software services and system integrations.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBLITIES:

  • With limited direction, manage an engineering program from concept, through bid and estimating processes, through execution for all technical aspects of the effort
  • Supports high-paced, high visibility classified programs
  • Provides technical guidance and management to combined engineering teams including software, hardware and test.
  • Represent the company prime technical contact on small contracts or single component projects.
  • Independently performs difficult/complex engineering work with instructions as to the general expected results.
  • Creates, maintains and presents complicated system level engineering solutions.
  • Troubleshoot conflicting design/development requirements, difficult coordination requirements, and special material requirements.
  • Creates Interface Control Documents (ICDs), technical diagrams, system design descriptions, and other documentation as required.
  • Provides documentation and makes technical presentations as required.

Job Qualifications:
  • Typically requires a bachelors degree, masters degree or PhD in engineering or a related technical discipline from an accredited institution and progressive engineering experience as follows; twelve or more years of experience with a bachelors degree, ten or more years of experience with a masters degree, or seven or more years with a PhD. May substitute equivalent engineering experience in lieu of education.
  • Demonstrates an extensive technical expertise and application of engineering principles, concepts, theory, and practice with the ability to organize, plan, schedule, conduct, and coordinate workloads to meet established deadlines or milestones with some experience in project leadership.
  • Must possess the ability to understand new concepts quickly and apply them accurately throughout an evolving environment.
  • Strong communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills are required enabling an effective interface with other departments and/or professionals, and capable of representing the organization as a prime technical contact, as well as providing leadership and guidance to less experienced professionals.
  • Customer focused, formulates plans based on the development of innovative new designs in resolving advanced technical engineering problems.
  • Must be able to work both independently and in a team environment.
  • Able to work extended hours as required.
  • Must be capable of briefing executives and senior government personnel on status of engineering efforts.
  • US DoD top secret clearance is required.
Desired Skills:
  • Experience in computer software and hardware architecture, software engineering, systems engineering, and project engineering.
  • Experience with Special Access Required or Special Access Programs highly desired
