This is a full time (60 hours per two week pay period) with 10-hour varied shifts located at Scripps Mercy Hospital Chula Vista. Includes $4,000 retention incentive and $3,000 relocation assistance for eligible new hires.

The Pharmacy Department at Scripps Mercy Chula Vista prides themselves on the care delivered to their community. Our Pharmacists work closely and collaboratively with the health care team to ensure our patients receive excellent care during their hospital stay. They also work closely with patients, caregivers, and family to ensure their medication-related needs are met before discharge. The ideal candidate will have hospital experience with performing pharmacy consults, working on the floors with nurses and physicians, and educating patients.

Responsibilities include:

  • Primarily operation focused centrally based; participates in direct patient care as clinical competencies are approved and on approved shifts.
  • Documents the care provided to patients.
  • Supervises the drug distribution operation: responsible for assuring safe and effective alternatives as appropriate.
  • Contributes to the accomplishment of initiatives to improve the cost-effectiveness of drug therapy.
  • Routinely communicates with physicians, nurses and patients regarding drug therapy.
  • Demonstrates ability to provide age-specific patient care as established for area and job title.
  • Demonstrates ability to perform competencies and prescription authorities as approved by the medical staff.
