Description Position Summary: Illumina’s Arrays Bioinformatics group is looking for an enthusiastic and exceptional bioinformatician to join our team to support new product development and on-market solutions for Infinium Methylation Arrays. Our team designs new methylation and genotyping arrays and builds tools to make internal processes more efficient to scale our growing business. We are responsible for the market-leading Infinium MethylationEPIC BeadChip, an epigenetic assay used by researchers worldwide for applications spanning oncology, genetic diseases, common diseases, aging, and infectious diseases. The ideal candidate has a passion for bioinformatic science and strong communication skills to work effectively with customers and internal teams. Responsibilities: Create and design array content for commercial and custom methylation arrays. Work across products and platforms to address customer inquiries and issues on current on-market array products Lead investigation and resolution of technical problems, applying best practice statistical/computational methods Provide presale support to customers on array content design and data analysis Create genetic data content design analysis pipelines and solutions to enable faster turn-around for routine investigations Collaborate with development teams to deploy critical improvements to address customer issues. Maintain flexibility for changing priorities and balancing multiple projects Communicate progress and timelines on all projects to stake holders Maintain organized tracking and documentation of all solutions, analysis, and investigations Acquire and maintain knowledge base of Illumina and third-party design and analysis solutions as applied to array and clinical sequencing products. Required Skills and Experience: PhD or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Biostatistics, or a related field Experience with array (genotyping and methylation) technologies, tools, and data analysis Proficiency in Python and/or R Experience with version control systems (e.g., GitHub) Critical problem solving and data analysis; Creative approach to problem solving and analyses Self-starter who can work well in a cross-functional team. Desired Skills and Experience Familiarity with Bioconductor software packages for DNA methylation analysis Familiarity with GWAS and Imputation Analysis Methods 1+ years industry experience Proficiency in C, C++, C# #LI-REMOTE Concerns regarding COVID-19 continue as positive cases are experienced in the communities in which we operate.
