This is a non-benefited, casual/per diem position with varied shifts located at our core lab in Sorrento Mesa. Shift hours are generally 2pm-10:30pm, including weekends. May need to float to other sites as needed.

Our Scripps Medical Laboratory is our system’s core lab, servicing all sites and processing over 2.6 million tests annually. The Lab Assistant will have the opportunity to work closely with all departments within the core lab. You will learn about the more intricate areas of the lab and how to receive incoming samples for testing as well as sending specimens to referral labs. You will be a resource for the Patient Service Centers as well as other lab customers. Since there is no phlebotomy performed at our core lab, patient and provider interaction is primarily over the phone. This position does not require a CPT license.
Responsibilities include:
· Process specimens for transport
· Answers phones and provides clerical support for the laboratory.
· Ensures performance and safety standards are met.
· Ensures inventory and supplies are stocked appropriately.
· Serves as a liaison for the laboratory and interacts with physicians, nurses and customers to provide a positive outcome.
