Overview

Assistant Site Supervisor - Licensed

The School Age Assistant Site Supervisor works directly with staff and youth in a Community Care Licensed before and/or after-school setting at either a YMCA facility or local elementary school site. As part of the leadership of a team, they impact staff and youth’s lives by helping them learn, grow, and develop. Assists in leading the program operation, staff supervision, youth supervision, planning, family relations, school relations, reporting, documentation, and regulation compliance of a program for children 5-12 years of age. Assist with the daily planning, implementation, and facilitation of activities and events for participants.

Schedule:

  • Must open once per week (6:15-8:00am)
  • Must be AVAILABLE 5 days per week in the afternoon (MTTHF 1:30-6:00pm), W(11:15-6:00pm)

Responsibilities

  • Assist with the day-to-day administration and leadership of the site and ensure Association policies and procedures are being followed
  • Facilitate and lead daily group activities with youth in accordance with the daily and monthly planning
  • Assist in providing leadership, coaching, and direction for all assigned YMCA staff at the program location. Ensure staff success in reaching program goals and objectives
  • Actively supervise program participants, ensuring their guidance and safety at all times
  • Implement age-appropriate program activities that engage students in active and meaningful experiences and in accordance with the goals and policies of the YMCA of San Diego County
  • Communicate in a timely, positive and professional manner with all participants, families, school and district personnel, and community partners
  • Collaborate with school personnel and program partners to align high quality academic activities and coordinate student services
  • Provide positive behavior guidance that supports the developmental, social-emotional, and physical needs of all students
  • Follow emergency procedures appropriately to ensure the safety of the participants and staff
  • Perform daily duties that ensure space is properly maintained, organized, clean, and safe
  • Must be highly dependable and have the ability to be flexible with change within a daily schedule
  • Visual and auditory ability to respond to critical incidents and the physical ability to act in an emergency situation
  • Physical ability to lead sports, games and curriculum activities, monitor youth behavior, and perform general housekeeping responsibilities
  • Other duties as assigned needs to be included to all roles

Qualifications

  • Must be 21 years of age or older and a high school graduate
  • Completion, with passing grades, of 12 units in Child Development (CD) or related field. (Related fields can include: Arts, Early Childhood Education, Education, Humanities, Physical Education, Psychology, Recreation, Sociology, and Theater) OR
  • Completion, with passing grades, of 6 units with 6 more units of current enrollment in Child Development or related field will be considered
  • Minimum of 1 year working in a child and youth development, education, or comparable setting
  • Basic computer skills, including word processing, and ability to speak, read, and write the English language. Ability to produce written reports and evaluations. Additional languages are highly desirable
  • Must have a sincere interest in working with children 5-12 years of age and the ability to relate to children and adults in a professional manner
  • Must have a sincere interest in leading, coaching, and developing staff
  • Skills to provide leadership to staff and participants
  • Ability and flexibility to travel to local program locations.
  • Criminal record clearance in accordance with YMCA and Community Care Licensing guidelines.
  • Successfully pass a physical exam and provide negative TB test results within 7 days of hire. (TB test results need to be current within 1 year.)
  • Must provide proof of measles (MMR), pertussis (TDap), and influenza immunizations within 7 days of hire. (TDap needs to be current within 10 years, MMR does not need to be renewed.)
  • Proof of completion of an 8 hour EMSA approved Health and Safety training within 60 days of hire.
  • CPR/AED, and First Aid Certification, must include Adult and Child/Infant, obtained within 30 days of hire and must be from one of the following certifying organizations:
    • American Red Cross
    • American Heart Association
    • American Safety & Health Institute

Pay Range

USD $21.00 - USD $23.16 /Hr.
