POSITION SUMMARY: Responsible for managing and overseeing execution of large-scale, forward-looking product marketing and culinary R&D projects that support the brand’s strategic initiatives to continuously grow the brand, including serving as an advocate and awareness-builder of innovation and brand differentiation and a key partner with the VP in setting innovation strategy, the menu, and product marketing calendar.

KEY DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

Leads and manages the development and implementation of strategic marketing and menu initiatives (such as value strategy, alternative menus, brand partnerships, market expansion menus, non-traditional menus, digital menu boards, menu optimization, and new sales layers such as retail products) for brand differentiation and increasing sales and market share.

Develops and regularly reviews/modifies strategic initiatives based on a thorough understanding of the consumer, restaurant, financial environment, and competitive offerings and strategies.

Develops and implements project plans and drives project milestones; monitors progress by analyzing sales performance, facilitating discussion and obtaining feedback, and conducting or overseeing field visits as needed. Summarizes findings and makes recommendations to Marketing leadership and senior management.

Leads planning efforts of long-term menu platforms that fall outside existing food categories. Maintains thorough knowledge of all menu initiatives and key milestones and oversees market level event calendars and testing plans; identifies contingency plans and actions addressing performance concerns and proposes direction to increase sales and profitability.

Leads and facilitates marketing and cross-functional teams in support of marketing and communication activities to ensure overall initiative success and alignment with the brand strategic direction; manages relationships with internal creative teams and agencies to develop integrated marketing event and menu communication materials. Creates and maintains strategic marketing tools for regional teams to use in the execution of initiatives at the market level.

Performs other related duties, tasks and responsibilities as required, assigned and directed.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education - Bachelor's degree or equivalent, preferably in Business Marketing; MBA helpful.

Experience – 8-10 year’s with progressively responsible experience for brand/product/category management and leading large-scale marketing initiatives, preferably in Consumer Products, Restaurant/Food Service or Retail industry. Experience must include a strong understanding of marketing, strategy development and franchise business model. Category expertise is a benefit. Skills/Knowledge/Abilities –

Is marketing savvy, requiring thorough knowledge of marketing principles and concepts.

Demonstrates strong analytical and conceptual thinking.

Excellent project management, organizational, interpersonal, problem-solving, leadership, and presentation skills.

Excellent oral and written English communication skills.

Requires sound understanding of business principles beyond marketing (i.e., finance/accounting and operations).

Ability to work in a fast-paced, multi-tasking environment with attention-to-detail.

Proficient knowledge of personal computers and Microsoft Office 365 (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

Demonstrates integrity and ethical behavior. Physical Requirements - Ability to speak/hear clearly in person and on the telephone. Ability to travel up to 20% of time to restaurants or other locations as business needs require. Ability to operate a computer keyboard.

The range for this position is $150,700 - $214,700 and is based on an employee located at our corporate headquarters in San Diego. If the candidate is hired in a different city to work remote, we will apply a geographic pay differential based on the cost of labor in the market in which the employee resides.
