Position Summary: In this role you will be the program manager for software and bio-informatics programs. You will tackle challenging problems and coordinate high profile projects across multiple software and bio-informatics teams to ensure goals and commitments are met. You will interface with other technology teams and senior leadership to establish scope, schedule, and cost as well as communicating status, issues, and risks. Additionally, you will be part of a team integrating agile software development processes into hardware-oriented culture and must be comfortable coaching and mentor others at all levels of the organization. Responsibilities: Lead and organize a program of 90+ software developers in quarterly planning cycles. Drive a cross-functional leadership team (a.k.a. Core Team) in successfully delivering program commitments. Collaborate cross-functionally to create and execute software project plans (scope, schedule, staffing plans, quality, risk management, budget, and procurement) and revise them appropriately to meet changing needs and requirements. Work effectively with stakeholders to ensure alignment with business objectives, correct prioritization, and successful project delivery. Track project progress to plan (eg. release burndown) and make corrections and/or reset expectations as needed. Lead senior management reviews and governance meetings for your program’s pool of resources. Identify, resolve and/or escalate issues as appropriate. Facilitate tradeoff decisions and removes obstacles. Continuously analyze and manage program risks to enable successful project completion. Define and optimize project and program management and overall software development processes, methodologies, and tools to improve organizational efficiency and effectiveness. Requirements: 15 or more years leading and managing multiple complex software application projects. 10 or more years of recent experience managing software development projects spanning multiple software development teams. 5 or more years of recent experience working in a highly regulated environment 5 or more years of experience following Agile project management methodologies Must be able to work independently and communicate across all levels of the organization. Strong understanding of the software development processes and project planning/execution skills that include estimating and scheduling. Polished communication skills and able to communicate with confidence, clarity, and focus. Ability to communicate software concepts and considerations to non-software professionals. Comfortable and experienced presenting to senior leaders. Ability to understand scientific concepts and relevant technologies such as genome sequencing. Demonstrated business judgement navigating complex program challenges to deliver enterprise-scale software successfully according to contract. Excellent leadership skills, you understand how to own the outcome. Demonstrated ability to work in a matrix environment, and ability to influence at all levels. Demonstrated success championing and delivering improvements to the software development and program management processes of a growing organization. Experienced with using JIRA or equivalent to manage software development. Preferred Skills & Experience: Software development/programming experience Familiar with Medical Device Manufacturing and Design Controls for the development of medical devices such as 21CFR820, ISO 13485, and ISO 14971 Prior experience managing software in FDA regulated environments Preferred Certifications: SAFe Program Consultant (SPC), Scrum Master, Scrum Product Owner, PMI PMP Experience using and rolling out JIRA Portfolio, Align or equivalent technologies is desired. Experience integrating deliverables spanning host software, web/cloud, embedded software, and hardware deliveries Experience/Education: Typically requires a minimum of 15 years of related experience Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in Computer Science, Math, Engineering, Science, or a related technical discipline. Business training such as an MBA degree, business certificate, or equivalent is not required but is helpful. #LI-HYBRID The estimated base salary range for the Associate Director, Software Program Management role based in the United States of America is: $167,200 - $250,800. Should the level or location of the role change during the hiring process, the applicable base pay range may be updated accordingly. Compensation decisions are dependent on several factors including, but not limited to, an individual’s qualifications, location where the role is to be performed, internal equity, and alignment with market data. Additionally, all employees are eligible for one of our variable cash programs (bonus or commission) and eligible roles may receive equity as part of the compensation package.
