Position Summary

The Supervisor, RPG Development plays an important role in the organization by performing a number of activities related to the company’s Information Technology function. The role is primarily responsible, with limited direction, for the oversight of the RPG/Websmart Team; as well as, continuing to provide coding solutions as needed for various business partners to meet projected deadlines and maintain a level of support that meets/exceeds expectations.

Essential Functions

  • Supervise the IBMi Developer staff in supporting the day-to-day operations of the IT technical platforms using Websmart, RPG and CL Applications.
  • Participate in systems design sessions with users and Business Analysts to develop complete specifications that capture impact of changes on all applications, systems and databases.
  • Create and use binding directories, binder sources prototypes, prototype-interfaces, private and public procedures, appropriate activation group usage and service programs.
  • Apply knowledge of data centric architecture, design, programming and performance to update programs and resolve problems.
  • Apply knowledge and manage projects using DB2 and SQL.
  • Assist the Application Support Desk team with troubleshooting and resolving application system errors.
  • Demonstrate a high level of personal commitment and accountability to the business with a focus on quality and customer service.
  • Supervise planning and/or implementation of department projects.
  • Build business solutions by creating new and modifying existing software applications.
  • Predict emerging customer needs and develop innovative solutions to meet them.
  • Solve unique and complex problems with broad impact on the business.
  • Translate highly complex concepts in ways that can be understood by a variety of audiences.
  • Resolve complex escalated technical issues; use opportunities as teaching exercises for staff.
  • Complete technical research and analysis and share findings and possible solutions with team.
  • Work to distribute technical knowledge throughout team.
  • Keep informed of industry trends and changing technology related to field of expertise; make recommendations for changes to policy, practice, and process accordingly.
  • Create templates and models used by less experienced teammates.
  • Use expertise to answer questions from less experienced teammates.
  • Identify and pursue new and evolving technologies; evaluate potential impact to the business and provide VP, Information Technology with insight and recommendations.
  • Provide analysis and work on special initiatives and projects from the Chief Information Officer.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • High school degree preferred, along with a minimum of five years total recent RPG programming and development experience working on multiple projects of high complexity required, preferably in the financial services or mortgage servicing industries.
  • Minimum two years previous experience functioning as a Supervisor or in a Lead capacity.
  • Expert knowledge and fluency with:
  • All aspects of RPG III/IV/ILE/400/FREE/Imbedded SQL, Procedures and Service Programs, CL and Websmart
  • Binding directories, binder source, prototypes, prototype interfaces, private and public procedures, appropriate activation group usage, service programs
  • DB2/i database, i SQL, along with data centric architecture, design, programming, performance
  • Software/DB modernization, analysis, design, and construction including application of modern DB, OO, and modular software concepts and patterns
  • FTP, and Secured FTP
  • Highly detail-oriented.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple tasks in a deadline-driven environment; strong sense of urgency and responsiveness.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong detail orientation and highly organized.
  • Ability to think critically, including the ability to evaluate facts and data to draw conclusions, determine the downstream impact of decisions and associated risks.

Requirements

Physical: Work is primarily sedentary; mobility in an office setting.

Manual Dexterity: Frequent use of computer keyboard and mouse.

Audio/Visual: Ability to accurately interpret sounds and associated meanings at a volume consistent with interpersonal conversation. Regularly required to accurately perceive, distinguish and interpret information received visually and through audio; e.g., words, numbers and other data broadcasted aloud/viewed on a screen, as well as print and other media.

Environmental: Office environment – no substantial exposure to adverse environmental conditions.

Targeted Salary: $102,744.00 to $140,000.00 annually.

Compensation at Guild is influenced by a wide array of factors including but not limited to local and federal minimum wage requirements, education, level of experience, and applicant’s geographical location.
