Description Apple delivers the most popular cameras in the world. Each product release provides breakthroughs in photography and stunning features customers love. Many of these impressive features utilize machine learning algorithms. As ML algorithms are applied, the connection between measurements of camera physical performance and the end user application impact becomes increasingly complex. Your work will innovate on big data engineering tools, apply data science, and develop large-scale simulations to provide correlations between camera products and their uses.

Description

In this critical product engineering role, you will drive data-driven approaches to camera technology simulation, design and manufacturing. Using your knowledge of statistical modeling, CV/ML, and data engineering, you'll help optimize how we develop and produce camera systems through data insights. You'll build and implement simulation frameworks and data pipelines to capture metrics across the product lifecycle - from component testing through system integration. By developing effective platforms that connect simulation, training, and manufacturing data across build stages, you'll provide valuable visibility into performance factors and quality indicators. You'll create powerful data exploration tools that help engineering teams analyze datasets, understand key relationships, and improve camera engineering. Your work will contribute to product quality, manufacturing efficiency, and the overall imaging experience for our customers.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in physics, computer science, electrical engineering, data engineering, data science, or related fields.
  • 2+ years of experience in data engineering, data science, analytics, computer vision, or image processing.
  • Experience developing data pipelines and software stacks
  • Experience with Python and code versioning systems (e.g., Git).
  • Knowledge of relational and non-relational databases.
  • Experience with statistical analysis.
  • Knowledge of various image processing techniques.

Preferred Qualifications

  • MS/PhD and 10+ years of relevant industry experience (physics, computer science, optics, image science, electrical engineering, data science).
  • Experience with computer vision and ML for 2D/3D image applications and computational photography.
  • Experience with data visualization platforms and languages (Tableau, JMP, Matlab, R).
  • Experience developing and deploying large-scale data pipelines leveraging cloud engineering tools (AWS, Snowflake).
  • Experience with ML frameworks (PyTorch, TensorFlow, etc.).
  • Familiarity with camera sensors, optics, and imaging pipelines.
  • Experience working in cross-functional hardware/software teams.

Pay & Benefits

At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $135,400 and $250,600, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
