Software Engineer 2 is responsible for writing high quality performant software across the technologies that drive Jack’s guest facing experiences. This position is also responsible for implementing Ci/CD, Infrastructure as Code, and Unit and Integration tests. Engineer 2s participate in production response activities helping to resolve bugs and outages. They are also expected to contribute to solution design and making suggestions related to the best way to build a particular feature or solution.
KEY DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
Understand implementation tasks and assignments
Developing software to meet user stories and bugs
Provide feedback and recommend changes to developer experience
Develop separate elements of a software that work well in the program as a whole
Read and understand diagrams and flowcharts for how applications are expected to work
Ensure continued functionality of a program during maintenance and testing of software
Document each aspect of a system or application as a reference for future upgrades and maintenance
Revisit the development process to fix bugs or address client or consumer concerns
Participate in design sessions with architecture to create alignment on solution design.
Participate in daily standup and other agile ceremony activities.
Participate in incident response work helping to resolve production issues in real time.
Learn and help document best practices
Implement features within codebase in alignment with agreed upon designs
Participate in code reviews both receiving and providing feedback.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education in Software Development. Bachelors Degree or Intensive Coding Bootcamps are acceptable.
Some experience working with AWS Cloud based solutions.
Experience with technical writing and configuration management.
2-5+ years of web software development experience, including systems design
2-5+ years of experience with service oriented architecture (SOA) or RESTful web services
2-5+ years of experience with web client-side application frameworks
Ability to effectively test and document your own work.
Object Oriented Programming Skills.
Ability to prioritize and self manage work tasks.
Anticipate business needs and communicate/pitch new ideas.
Solid Understanding of Dev/Ops or CI/CD Comfortable working in an agile environment
Exposure to infrastructure as code is a plus.
Experience and skilled at Unit Testing
Experienced with software development tools such as an IDE/Debugger/etc.
Willingness to participate in and learn from design and feedback sessions.

The range for this position is $93,300 - $132,900 and is based on an employee located at our corporate headquarters in San Diego. If the candidate is hired in a different city to work remote, we will apply a geographic pay differential based on the cost of labor in the market in which the employee resides.
