We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Construction Manager (CM) to join our Facilities Engineering, Design & Construction (EDC) organization in San Diego, CA.

CMs work within the Project Implementation team whose primary focus is the implementation of capital projects. We are trusted and reliable resources for our business partners and customers in the development of infrastructure to meet the company mission, and our success contributes to the execution of our customers objectives.

CMs will work as part of a project team and be paired up with one or more project managers. The ideal CM has extensive project experience in the defense, aerospace, laboratory, and manufacturing sectors supporting work between $20K-$40M. To be successful you must be comfortable operating in a fast-paced work environment with evolving requirements that will require focus and follow through in a timely manner. A qualified CM will be organized, an excellent communicator, and always demonstrate a calm and professional demeanor. The CM will be responsible for ensuring safety and quality control remain paramount at all job sites.

Projects will be located throughout Southern California requiring local and overnight travel. Reliable personal transportation is required; mileage reimbursement is provided.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Manages construction in adherence with the contract documents, project budget and schedule, regularly communicating with the Project Manager.
  • Monitors project schedules and milestones from permitting phase through closeout to achieve project objectives.
  • Facilitates and/or attends various meetings including, but not limited to, OAC’s, internal project update meetings, scheduling and project controls meetings, lessons learned, etc.
  • Reviews plans during design phase to identify and mitigate constructability issues.
  • Provides daily observation reports for assigned job sites ensuring contactor adherence to contract documents, schedule, and GA safety policies.
  • Reviews and helps coordinates safety documentation and procedures including hot work permits, utility outage requests, fire system test/disable requests, trenching/excavation permits, crane picks, etc.
  • Reviews construction progress to ensure compliance with plans, specifications, building code, and industry standards.
  • Collaborates with contractors, designers, security, EH&S, operations, and internal subject matter experts to address issues during construction.
  • Ensures contractor compliance with RFI and submittal responses.
  • Assists Project Manager with validation of technical scope associated with change orders.
  • Performs other duties as assigned or required.

Job Qualifications:
  • Typically requires a bachelor’s in construction management or related discipline and at least eleven or more years of progressively complex experience in the project administration field with at least five of those years in project management. May substitute equivalent experience in lieu of education.
  • Must demonstrate an extensive understanding of project management processes and procedures, planning and scheduling methods, and budget management as well as the ability to organize, schedule, and coordinate workloads to meet established milestones and budgets.
  • CCM and/or PMP certification desired.
  • Experience as an owner’s representative desired.
  • Experience with construction during airport and manufacturing operations desired.
  • Previous experience as a Superintendent is highly desired.
  • Understanding of MEP systems (medium voltage distribution, process piping, humidification systems, building automation systems, etc.) is highly desirable.
  • Experience with cloud-based construction management platforms (i.e. Procore or equal) required.
  • Must have experience with ICD 705 and TEMPEST construction requirements.
  • Must have a thorough understanding of contracts, plans, specifications, and regulations.
  • Must be able to work in high pressure environment with extensive experience in negotiation, relationship building, and the ability to adapt to change while maintaining a positive and professional demeanor.
  • Must possess: (1) the ability to initiate, plan and manage projects; (2) the ability to identify issues, analyze and interpret data and develop solutions to a variety of non-routine matters of diverse scope and nature; (3) strong analytical, communication, documentation, presentation, and interpersonal skills; and (4) the ability to work independently and lead in a team.
  • Must be able to work extended hours and travel as required.

Salary:$100,290 - $183,098
Salary20.00 - 40.00 Hour
