SAIC is seeking a Senior Network Engineer to support the Naval Information Warfare Center, Pacific (NIWC PAC) Messaging CB ISEA. The SAIC Team provides a full range of engineering, technical support, management, and logistics services in support of the Messaging programs. Support of these systems includes technical support for installations, providing systems and software engineering, software development and infrastructure as code, integration and testing of hardware and software functions, and testing of new baselines and/or new capability of messaging systems. The work will be Onsite in San Diego, CA conducted at the Naval Information Warfare Center, Pacific (NIWC PAC) location in Old Town.

JOB DUTIES:

· Provide inputs for analysis and engineering, system architecture, system analysis and design, interface and data architectures, validation and verification, systems integration, system & op. performance analysis, requirements, and network engineering of the implemented networks.

· Candidate will collaborate with other network engineers in the development, research of components, functionality, and schedules to provide recommendations to the Lead Network Engineer.

· Assist with analysis for short/long term capacity and bandwidth needs for switching, routing transmission and signaling.

· Provide inputs for Analysis of Alternatives (AoAs) and perform trade space analysis

· Assist developing detailed schematics for network architecture; providing information for hardware and software selection; and tools for the most efficient solution to meet business needs, including present and future capacity requirements.

· Perform testing of network systems.

· Collaborates with other network engineers in all areas of network and computer hardware and software interconnection and interfacing, such as routers, switchers, firewalls, load balancers, and security products (e.g. VPN, NAC, etc.).

· Evaluates and reports on new network technologies to enhance capabilities of the network to the Lead Network Engineer.

· Update documents for lab systems, provide support for testing, and provide status of progress to the Lead Network Engineer.

· Desired experience and familiarity with virtualization (VMWare)

Experienced in MS environments and possess strong problem-solving skills and the ability to lean new technologies quickly.

Qualifications

REQUIREMENTS:

· Bachelors and five (5) years or more experience; Masters and three (3) years or more experience; PhD or JD and zero (0) years or more experience.

· Active Secret Clearance.

· Current CompTIA Security+ at a minimum.

· Professional level vendor certifications such as CCNA and/or JNCIA are highly desired.

· Knowledge of, and hands on experience implementing IT and Cyber Security best practices

· Candidate should have computer and networking skills and demonstrate a working knowledge of current applicable military and commercial standards and specifications.

DESIRED SKILLS:

· Experience programming in an administrative language, as well as prepare, test, and deploy scripts aimed at improving efficiencies or correcting problems.

· Excellent Communications Skills are imperative.

· Familiarity with implementing Network Security Components and Protocols for firewalls deployed at Operating System and Enterprise Level;

· Familiarity with Security Technical Implementation Guide (STIG) to lockdown network equipment


Target salary range: $100,001 - $125,000. The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors.
