Camp Cuyamaca Is Hiring! Job Fair May 20, 12pm-5pm
As a 6th grader, I attended Camp Cuyamaca (won't mention the year). It was a great experience that I have never forgotten. This is a great opportunity for people who want to make a difference by being a part of what could be a young person's first experience in the great outdoors.

Are you looking for a new job with a change of scenery? The San Diego County Office of Education is looking to fill a variety of positions at Cuyamaca Outdoor School (COS) and will host a job fair May 20 from noon to 5 p.m. at the school, located at 12561 Highway 79, Descanso, CA 91916.
COS needs to fill approximately 18-20 openings in the fall and another six positions in the spring. Most of the positions will start at the beginning of September. However, summer and weekend kitchen teams are needed immediately. Salaries range from $15 per hour for camp counselors to $30 an hour for camp maintenance.

- Outdoor education specialists
“At Cuyamaca Outdoor School, San Diego’s original 6th grade camp, our outstanding team makes a lasting difference in the lives of children by connecting them to science through nature,” says Kris Pamintuan, Cuyamaca Outdoor School principal. “The work we do – in every department, every day – truly matters as we guide students to develop an appreciation of nature, discover how to think like a scientist, explore ways to have a positive human impact on the environment, practice healthy habits, make new friendships, and create lasting memories during this transformative outdoor education experience.”
Every person who works at 6th grade camp makes a positive difference in kids’ lives and has an impact that will be felt across the county. There are 11,000 students scheduled to attend COS in the 2022-23 school year, with 200-260 students weekly in the fall months and 380 to 425 students weekly from January to June.
Cuyamaca Outdoor School is the longest running outdoor education program in the state. The very first students arrived on March 17, 1946. The residential outdoor education program is located one hour east of San Diego in the 25,000-acre Cuyamaca Rancho State Park.
Interested candidates should bring a state-issued identification card and Social Security card or valid passport to expedite the hiring process.
