San Diego Ranks High in Number of People Who Work Remotely

Advances in technology has changed the way we work. A perfect example of this is found in a recent study from Volusion ecommerce software .

The study named the top 15 large cities in the country for working remotely. San Diego came in 11th, with one of the highest percentages of people working from home (6.8%).

Aside from the convenience of rolling out of bed and into the office, employees can save thousands of dollars. A few examples of cost savings from working from home:

  • Wear and tear on car
  • Gas
  • Parking fees
  • Fairs for transportation
  • Lunch
  • Coffee
  • Reduced car insurance
  • More flexible schedule for parents

The downside can be lost opportunities for promotion along with collaborating with colleagues and upper management. It can also feel a bit isolating, so it's not for everyone. That being said, some employees were willing to take up to an 8% pay cut for the opportunity to work from home. That's a small price to pay for the opportunity to work while enjoying the benefits of living in this beautiful city.
